    Using MS Picture Manager, images can be easily edited and the file size compressed allowing for easier and faster uploading. This is not only important in web-based content but also in word and powerpoint as these can quickly become so large that they take an age to load.

    A learning management system (commonly abbreviated as LMS) is a software application for the administration, documentation, tracking, and reporting of training programs, classroom and online events, e-learning programs, and training content.
    The Polytechnic is currently reviewing it LMS and an announcement is expected before the end of the year. Currently the Polytechnic'sTasTAFE's preferred LMS is Fronter . Also used with TasTAFE is WebCT (also known as Blackboard).(until end 2014) and Moodle is also used within the Polytechnic, particularly within the IT teaching teams and Fronter is currently being trialled..
    Over the past couple of years, Wikis have also grown in popularity.
